TI-30XS Calculator Online โ Free MultiView Scientific Calculator
Your GED practice test, chemistry homework or math class expects one exact calculator, but yours is at school, lost in a bag, or not bought yet. Typing fractions into a phone calculator turns them into long decimals, and the steps your teacher shows do not match the buttons on your screen. You need the same keys and the same answers, right now.
This free TI-30XS calculator online solves that. It puts a MultiView style keypad and four-line screen in your browser, so fractions stay as fractions and the toggle key switches answers to decimals. There is nothing to download and no account to create.
What Is the TI-30XS MultiView?
It is a Texas Instruments MultiView scientific calculator and one of the most used calculators in middle school, high school and adult education. It belongs to the TI-30X family, a line of scientific calculators that do not graph but handle fractions, powers, roots, trig and statistics. The name comes from its MultiView display, which shows four lines at once so you can compare several calculations on one screen. That is also why many people simply call it the TI 30X MultiView.
Our version is a browser copy of that layout. It works like an emulator: you press the same keys in the same order and get the same kind of result as on the handheld. That makes it a handy practice tool for homework, class and test prep on any device.
Who Uses It
Anyone who needs a TI 30x scientific calculator for a few minutes or a few hours can use this one. GED learners practice before test day, and students use it for homework when the handheld is not with them. Teachers project it in class, and nursing and lab students use it for quick dosage and unit sums.
| Who | What they use it for | Where to start on this page |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ GED learners | Practicing the test calculator | GED and exams |
| ๐ Students | Fractions, algebra, chemistry homework | Worked examples |
| ๐ฉโ๐ซ Teachers | Projector demos, online lessons | How to use |
| ๐ฉบ Nursing and lab students | Dosage, unit and percentage sums | Keys at a glance |
This is an independent tool and is not a product of Texas Instruments. For any exam that requires a physical calculator, bring a real Texas Instruments handheld.
How to Use the TI-30XS Calculator Online
Follow the infographic below to enter a fraction on the TI-30XS and switch the answer to a decimal. It takes four key presses. Once you know them, every fraction problem works the same way.
Press n/d
A stacked fraction template appears.
Type the parts
Numerator, down arrow, denominator.
Press enter
The answer shows as a fraction.
Press โโบ
The toggle key switches to a decimal.
Step-by-Step Instructions
You use this tool the same way you use the handheld in class. Click or tap the keys on screen, or type with your keyboard. Each line you enter stays on the screen, so you can scroll up and reuse earlier answers.
- Open the calculator at the top of this page.
- Type an expression, for example 3 ร 4 + 5, and press enter.
- For a fraction, press n/d, type the top number, press the down arrow and type the bottom number.
- Press the right arrow to leave the fraction, then finish the expression and press enter.
- Press the toggle key โโบ to switch the answer between exact and decimal form.
- Press clear to erase the line you are typing, or press it twice to clear the screen.
Set Degree or Radian Mode
Press mode, and the first row shows DEG, RAD and GRAD. Move to the one you need and press enter, then press clear to go back. Trig answers depend on this setting, so check the small DEG or RAD sign at the top of the screen before every sin, cos or tan problem.
Reuse Your Last Answer
Multi-step problems are faster when you do not retype results. Press 2nd then (โ) to insert ans, which holds the last answer you calculated, and keep going from there. If you start a new line with an operation such as ร or +, the calculator adds ans for you automatically. You can also press the up arrow to highlight any earlier line on the four-line screen and press enter to copy it down for editing.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Most wrong answers on this calculator come from a handful of small slips. Check these first whenever an answer looks odd. Each one takes a second to fix once you know it.
- Using โ for a negative number. The โ key on the right subtracts. For a negative, use the (โ) key at the bottom of the keypad.
- Staying inside a fraction. After typing a fraction, press the right arrow before you add the next part, or it lands in the denominator.
- Wrong angle mode. sin(30) gives 0.5 in DEG but about โ0.988 in RAD.
- Mixing up delete and clear. delete removes one character; clear erases the whole line.
- Old data in a list. Clear L1 before entering new statistics, or the old numbers stay in the results.
Tip: press 2nd then table (f โโบ d) to convert any answer between a fraction and a decimal, even after you have moved on to a new line.
Key Features of the TI-30XS
Every feature below follows the way the handheld works, so practice here carries straight over to class and test day. The cards cover the tools students use most, from fractions to statistics. If you also need graphs, our TI 84 calculator online handles that.
Four-Line MultiView Display
The screen shows four lines at once, so you can see your last few entries and answers together. Use the up arrow to scroll back, copy an earlier line and edit it. This is what makes it a true multiview calculator.
MathPrint Fractions
MathPrint shows fractions, exponents and square roots the way they look in a textbook. Fractions stay stacked and are simplified automatically, and you can enter mixed numbers too.
The Toggle Key
The โโบ key switches an answer between exact form and a decimal. It works for fractions, square roots and ฯ, so you can check that 3/4 equals 0.75 with one press.
One- and Two-Variable Statistics
Enter data in lists with the data key, then run 1-Var or 2-Var Stats. You get the mean, standard deviation, sums and, for two variables, a linear regression line.
Table of Values
Type a function into the table feature and see x and y values side by side. It is the quickest way to check a pattern without a graphing calculator.
Scientific Functions
Trig and inverse trig, logs, powers, roots, ฯ, scientific notation and percentages all sit on the keypad. It covers pre-algebra through algebra 2, chemistry and physics.
Storing Values in Variables
Long decimals are easy to mistype, so this calculator lets you save a number and reuse it. Type the value, press stoโ, then press the variable key (x yzt abc) until the letter you want is highlighted, and press enter. To use it later, press the variable key again and pick the same letter. Press 2nd then stoโ (recall) to see every stored value, or 2nd then the variable key (clear var) to wipe them all.
Percentages and Scientific Notation
Percentages sit on the bracket keys. Press 2nd then ( for the % sign, and 2nd then ) for โบ%, which turns a decimal answer into a percentage. For very large or very small numbers, the ร10โฟ key enters scientific notation, so 6.02 ร 10ยฒยณ takes only a few key presses. Chemistry and nursing students use these keys more than any others.
Keys at a Glance
This table shows which keys to press for the jobs students do most often on this calculator. Keys marked 2nd use the second function printed above the key. Press 2nd first, then the key, and the small label above it is what you get.

TI-30XS vs TI-30X IIS vs TI-30XA
The TI 30 calculator line has several models, and schools do not all ask for the same one. The MultiView is the newest of the three and the one this calculator follows. The TI-30X IIS calculator is the older 2-line scientific calculator, and the TI-30XA calculator is the basic one-line model, also sold as the TI-30XB in some countries.
| Feature | TI-30XS MultiView | TI-30X IIS | TI-30XA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 4 lines | 2 lines | 1 line |
| Textbook-style math (MathPrint) | Yes | No | No |
| Fractions | Stacked, with n/d key | On one line, with A b/c key | On one line, with a b/c key |
| Statistics | 1- and 2-variable | 1- and 2-variable | 1-variable |
| Power | Solar and battery | Solar and battery | Battery |
| Used on the GED test | Yes (on-screen and handheld) | No | No |
| Allowed on SAT, ACT and AP | Yes | Yes | Yes |
If your class lists the TI-30X IIS scientific calculator, most steps on this page still apply, but fractions are typed on one line instead of stacked. Every Texas Instruments TI-30X model is a scientific calculator, not a graphing one. For graphs, use a TI-84 instead; our TI-84 Plus CE manual explains how. If you are buying a handheld, ask your teacher which model the class uses first, because the keys and screens differ between them.
Using the TI-30XS on the GED, SAT and ACT
This model is the only calculator allowed on the GED math test, and the test gives you a built-in on-screen version for most questions. That is why so many adult learners look for a GED calculator to practice on before test day. Learning the same keys early saves time when every minute counts.
The GED also gives you a calculator reference sheet that lists the main keys and what they do. Read it once before test day so you know where to find fractions, powers and the toggle key. If you have practiced the same steps here, the sheet becomes a quick reminder instead of something new to learn under time pressure.
The handheld is also approved for the SAT, ACT and AP exams. An online calculator, however, cannot be used in any proctored exam. The table shows where each version fits.
| Online Version | Handheld MultiView | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Paid |
| Runs on | Any browser | The handheld only |
| Best for | Homework, practice, teaching | Class tests and exams |
| GED test | Practice only | Allowed (an on-screen version is also built into the test) |
| SAT, ACT and AP exams | Not allowed | Allowed |
Exam rules can change. Check the official calculator policy for your test before exam day, and practice on the same model you will use in the test room.
Frequently Asked Questions About the TI-30XS
Is this calculator free to use online?
Yes. The calculator on this page has no price, no trial and no account. Open the page and start typing. It runs in your browser, so it also works on school laptops that block new software.
Can I use it on the GED test?
Yes. The MultiView is the only calculator allowed on the GED math test, and an on-screen version is built into the test for most questions. Practicing on it beforehand means the keys already feel familiar on test day. Check GED.com for the current rules on bringing your own handheld.
Can I use it on the SAT and ACT?
The handheld Texas Instruments model is approved for the SAT, ACT and AP exams. This online version is not, because phones, laptops and internet-connected devices are banned in proctored exams. Use it to practice, then bring the physical calculator on test day.
What is the difference between the MultiView and the TI-30X IIS?
The MultiView has a four-line screen and shows fractions stacked, the way they look in a textbook. The TI-30X IIS has a two-line screen and types fractions on one line. Both handle trig, logs and statistics, and both are allowed on the SAT and ACT. Only the MultiView is used on the GED.
Is there an app for this calculator?
You do not need an app or a download to use this one. Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone and the calculator works in the browser. Pages that offer a calculator download are often unofficial, so a browser version is the safer choice.
How do I change a fraction to a decimal?
Press the toggle key โโบ right after the answer appears. It switches between the fraction and the decimal each time you press it. You can also press 2nd then table (f โโบ d) to convert between a fraction and a decimal.
Can the MultiView graph?
No. It is a scientific calculator, so it cannot draw graphs. Its table feature can list x and y values for a function, which helps you see a pattern. For real graphs, use our free TI 84 calculator online.
How do I reset the calculator?
Press 2nd then 0 (reset), and choose Yes. This clears the memory, lists and settings, and sets the mode back to its defaults. On this online version, reloading the page also gives you a fresh start.
